The best thing about following unsigned bands is that it's easy to get tickets to their shows. There are a few unsigned bands in Albany that I check out, and it's really a luxury and an honor to be one of a small group of people checking out their show. I've always been a little bit ahead of the curve with finding unsigned bands and passing along their music to friends and family. There is a great argument that exists to day for fans of popular music. does one typically prefer a signed major label band? Or, does one tend to favor the unsigned band. I will be exploring the feelings I posses for both a singed band and an unsigned band. Led Zeppelin would probably be my favorite major label band. They were (and STILL are) AWESOME! The way they embraced blues rock, soul, folk, world and more was innovative and untouched at the time of their world domination. I believe they wrote some of the greats songs of all time, "Stairway to Heavan"... CLASIC! "Ten Years Gone..." Forget about it. These guys were not an unsigned band for long. In fact, they NEVER were! Now, my unsigned choice is out of Boston, MA; the Froggers. They are four down to earth guys who bring in when the amps are plugged in. I am currently trying to figue out ways to scrounge up al ittle money to sign these guys and start my new label. A delicious mix of

continued... title='blues rock'>blues rock and funk they way these guys do it is rare for an unsigned band. Now, to throw a little curve in the mix for major band, I will look at the Beastie Boys. They have been kicking it around for many a year. They give you the feel of an unsigned band. Their mediocre dress and down to earth schtick would have an average mis-informed person in assumption they cannot pay their bills. Nevertheless, THEY ROCK! One thing that the unsigned bands have in common is that they don't do the managment on their own. It's very difficult. All of the stories of success with these bands depend on the unsigned band hooking on with a quality no-nonsense, drive a bargain type of manager. It's a must for any quality unsigned group trying to spread their music and reputation. In closing, most unsigned bands that kick ass are scooped up. It is good business practice. That is why that I know if I am able to raise the money, I can have my own abel and I can bring these bands into the mix. I would have DJs as well. So, if you are reading this, I am taking donations to my cause, becasue there can never be too many contracts to sign.
