Videos, CDs, Bologna Greetings, The Holidaze are over. It was fine while it lasted as January was probably the worst month in recent memory financially. To all who have found life to be more difficult, chin up..it will come around again... We, Typhoon Ferri band, has been quiet of late.. well I guess 'publically' that is. We have been recording some tunes, writing a few new riffs, making some live acoustic videos and the lot. We are doin the music recording in the comfy confines of a quaint abode in Scituate, MASS. Not an ideal location for those whole live in RI (the writer of dis blog)...but I am finding the hour and 45 min drive to be therapuetic. Plus, as long as the band is making progress then it is all the worthwhile. In Scituate, we are recording acoustic/electrically into pro tools. Stripped down versions of covers so far.. but as we get further we will tackle the originals. Mark has this cool G-love sounding tune in tits foundation stage and we have resurfaced "WIP," a song that began as a bass/drum funky, bass-effected jam when Mark would break a string on stage. Or, I guess we could call it "W.I.P" since we have been futzin' on the riff for probably 2 years. A little over a week ago, we did two cam corder live videos of some "T Montgom" and the new "Somewhere in the Song." We figure those to hit You tube soon. I will either inform you or I dare to randomally search for "Typhoon Ferri" at http://www.youtube.com We are sad to report that a cell phone and a watch may have been damaged during the shooting of this video. The beginning of the Third week of December 08 saw tyler and I hand stuffing envelops to mail to those who have requested our songs. See, we never realized the magnitude our music would be requested, so we mailed some 500 mailings with free downloads. Kudos to Ty for putting the finishing touches and making the addy labels. I hope that ppl took advantage...

continued... of this. It is kinda like Napster all over again. "Take our music FREE!" We are not the band destined for survival during these tough eco times...but then again we have been slinging free tuneage since 1999, so the Typhoon will never die!!! (all we ask is one day you buy our lunchbox or trapper keeper folder featuring us posing in our flo-bee hair cuts...when we release our kid album; 'The Cabbage Patch Chronicles') The years of studios and self recording are allowing us to be more self sufficent... Mark and Ty are just hammering these techy thingies. I have been deathly afraid of the tech-o but I am slowly, gradually being sucked in. It is fascinating stuff. I mean, we make hi-quality recordings in the matter of minutes. And man, Mark really is understanding the art of Mic placement. Oh, the new CD you ask? Turns out the new album has suffered the same duration of preparation as "Detergency." it's all good. The tunes have been leaked on-line for two-four years now. We aren't Guns n Roses that is for sure. Way may not even put them all mastered and clean on a proper CD, not sure. We'll see. The power of the 'net may be all the Dr. ordered. Looks as if we are to embark on the mastering stage any day now, good news for sure. This album is pretty much produced and edited by Mark with the most gracious engineering/production help from Kenny Lewis at MIXED EMOTIONS MUSIC, who has taken our sound to a newer sonic level we didn't hit on "Detergency." The result will be a slicker, faster, still eclectic mix of pop/alt call it what you will...it is Typhoon Ferri.

Everyone is sick..if this includes you we wish you a speedy recovery. Newport was so much fun last week, thanks to Sarah, Gretchen, Molly and riends, The Bedford Boyz, Tom Stavrou, Kymee and the Neport Crew and of course the Ringleader PJ and her oompah loompahs; Christy (Shawmut Shuttle), Mark, Timmy, Connor, Emily and Cooper. Friday in Lowell, a sweet time...thanks to Harris (one of the most fun local bands I have seen in awhile) and the debut of Caller Unknown (Tulli look up). Thanks to Tina a Old Court and all who attended..way too many to list. ice to see some faces we haven't seen in awhile. Special thanks to Jami.
