blues rock
the origin of popular music today spins from the continued respect towards blues rock. From the southern/Missisippi bluesman to modern rock and roll, musicans have grasped the tradition of blues. When you break down a modern song today, strip it to the rots, you'll find the origin of blues. blues can be traced long before you and I were blips in the reyes of our parents. Chances are, the were "creating" you with a little blues rock in the background. Was it Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, or how about Robert Cray? Well, He maybe too recent. Based on what we know of you, I am willing to think it was Led Zeppelin. They were a scapegoat for borrowing from the blues. The Black Crowes have embraced blues and incorportated into their trademark blues rock sound. Shame they split in 2001. But, we are blessed with there return 4 years later in 2005. Just listen to one of their last songs, "Lickin'," the blues shoots you right in the eye. Hunter S Thopson took his life this weekend. A shotgun, such a terrible way to go. Was it for more publicity? Was he that uncomfortable with his life? We pray for him and will always respect and appreciate his contributions. We can assume he was fond of

continued... title='blues rock'>blues rock. Maybe we can ask Johnny Depp. Well, one of you just asked me if Maroon 5 embraced blues rock. I shouldn't have to respond to that one. THEY DO! You don't think "this love" was written on a blues scale. Like I said, strip it down to the roots. Pull out all the technology and you'll here a nice blues riff and a nice song built around it. My favorite old time blues player is Robert Johnson. It wasn't blues rock of course. It was just blues - no rock. It was in fact the foundation of rock, but at that time it had a laid back southern feel. Did you know that the original "Sweet Home Chicago" lyrics actually referred to chicago as the land of california? This is a tricky thing. What Robert johnson blues legend was trying to communicate in this particular blues classic was that chicago was a destination. At the time of the gold rush, not everybody had the capability to get out to california, so it was more of a dream for some. Particularly a poor slow rockin blues player. He was a blues guitar genius for certain. Poor fella was killed at age 27 out of jealousy.
Typhoon Ferri News from September 2004blues rockTHIS SATURDAY SEPT 4; FREE ACOUSTIC SET AT ASGARD RESTAURANT AND PUB on MASS Ave in CAMBRIDGE (Central Square). 9pm-12a, Back a little over a year ago we had a performance at the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA that sold out at 9:30pm. Sadly, the HOB shut its doors shortly after but recently tey were re-opened. Brother Jimmy's continues the tradition of great live music and great food. The stage and great sound still prevail as we return Tuesday September 14 for a free performance starting at 9pm and followed by Amun RA (www.amunramusic.com) Come on down for a great meal and a fun show.Typhoon Ferri News from February 2007A few things have changed for our show opening for the infamous, HERBAL NATION @ Harper's Ferry on Wednesday, February 28. The show is 18+; Doors at 7pm. We hit the stage aroud 7:30pm. We will play for around an hour. A nice early show for a Wed night so we hope you all can come out.
