I'd been to the Spread Eagle Bar New York, so I knew what to expect. Leather, men looking even greasier than Fabio, and (unusually for tonight) the giant eagle head marquee flashing in red lights, "Typhoon Ferri and Sublime Play Eagle Bar New York, 10:30 TONIGHT!" Despite the flashy bounces, the bartenders are these skinny guys who mix the meanest drinks in any bar in New York. The bands had a bit too much drink before the set began and "Welcome to the Eagle Bar New York" somehow metamorphosed into "Helcome to da Littlelest Bar in New York." Not that anyone noticed, since this bar serves more tequila and vodka than any other bar in New York. Anyways, here are a couple of my favorite bars in new york: Double Happiness in Chinatown, and One 51 in midtown. Session 73 is also a cool spot. Bars in New York have a certain flare to them that you don't find anywhere else in the world. The energy of the patrons is unlike anywhere else, and it's particularly impressive because the vibe stays alive until 4am. The truth is, cities such as new orleans have a stronger party vibe, but new york is a place where the brightest and the mightiest go back to work on monday morning and fill some of the most important corporate roles in our country. continued... bars are not a place for partiers, they are a place for the very rare breed of american known as the New Yorker - smart, resilient, and they know how to have a good time. Okay, there is one aspect of New York bar hopping that I just don't like. It's the abundance of yankee caps. Damn them. Well, it's a small price to pay for good laughs, good beer, good bars, and a great bar city: New York City. A very good way of getting into the city is the train from the north. We've made this trip several times to hit the new york bar scene. We parked in Stamford and took the long train down. We've also parked in New Rochelle and that worked out great for getting to the bars in New York. Either way, when you're coming from the north, I would suggest catching the train into the city. They run late and they can get you to the New York bars that you want to hit up.
